How to Remove Shoe Marks on Your Floors

Despite your best house cleaning efforts, every hard floor in your home is very susceptible to shoe marks, which are usually left when people walk on your floors while wearing shoes with hard rubber bottoms such hard-soled shoes, heels etc. Since it is not possible to restrict everyone from walking on your floor in shoes at all times, you have no choice but learn how you can deal with the marks left behind. Fortunately, there are simple methods you can use to get rid of these unwanted marks. Here is what you should do:

1. Find the exact location of the marks.

The first step when you want to remove shoe marks from your floor is knowing their exact points. You can do this by washing the floor gently using a mild detergent, allowing you to clearly see all the marks.

2. Use an eraser.

For small shoe marks, try to get rid of them using the normal pencil eraser. Rub the spots firmly until the marks disappear, but don’t struggle too hard with stubborn shoe marks. When you are done erasing the small marks, sweep away the eraser shavings. There are some erasers specially made for this work that can be found in your local store. Whether you buy one or use a pencil eraser, do not use a colored eraser.

3. Scrubbing.

Scrubbing will remove larger marks and those that cannot be removed by the eraser. Create a smooth paste by mixing baking soda with water, then rub the spot using a soft cloth soaked in the paste. When the shoe marks disappear, wipe the area clean using a clean, damp cloth.

There many over-the-counter products that you can use to get rid of the shoe marks if baking soda is not available. Always check the label to ensure that the solution you buy is suitable for your type of flooring. Also, ensure that you follow the instructions on the label.
